Demolition to the Historic Ringling Brothers Circus Arena

Built in 1963, the arena was the winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus. It brought in performers from around the world until 1992. Since then it’s fallen to disrepair. Last year, the city decided on a partial demolition, where the walls and roof was removed, leaving the steel structure exposed.  However, to date, construction crews have started breaking up acres of pavement surrounding the historic Venice circus arena. Although, stated at a town meeting, a majority said hold off on destroying a small octagonal building commonly referred to as the Gunther Gebel-Williams building. Demolition of the property is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
