For a time, the developer considered imploding the stadium—which would have taken all of 20 seconds and might’ve made a Super Bowl halftime show to totally upstage Katy Perry’s golden lion—but critics’ concerns over a potential toxic plume floating over the Bayview helped kill that idea. The Brookside Lodge, a Former Girl Scout Building, will be Demolished.
A former Girl Scout building will be Demolished and it will cost $15,000 to demolish Brookside Lodge, the former Girl Scout building in Sidney, OH, that now sits on city parkland. Gaier said Girl and Boy Scouts still camp on the site, but do not use the building. His recommendation was to continue to make it available for scouting use. Even if the city were to make the building usable, Gaier said his department would have limited staff to maintain it. (more…)

State Capitol Construction Wrapping Up
Four separate projects are wrapping up just in time for the start of the new legislative session and the inauguration of Gov. Nathan Deal. Construction is near complete on the new Liberty Plaza across from the Capitols east steps. Also nearly complete is the new home for the Governors Office of Planning and Budget. Its the former home to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the second oldest building on Capitol grounds. (more…)
