Humane Society of Central Arizona Recycles Scrap Metal: Aluminum, Brass, Copper, Lead, etc.

The Humane Society of Central Arizona (HSCAZ) launches recycling program and accepts almost any type of scrap metal! Small items like air conditioners, car batteries, electrical cords, metal (aluminum, brass, copper, lead, stainless steel and sheet metal), and electronics such as laptops, keyboards and flat screen monitors can be dropped off. HSCA will also be accepting large items like appliances and even cars. However, these should be taken directly to the local recycler in Rye and donated in the name of the Humane Society of Central Arizona.

Aluminum drinking cans for soda and beer are still being collected in the bins painted like a Dalmatian. Dedicated volunteers give of their time to pick up these bins. For the past 20 years Bob and Judy Berger have been two of those dedicated volunteers. They’ve been the backbone of one of HSCAZ’s important fundraising programs — aluminum can recycling. The Bergers have spent multiple days per week collecting from the Dalmation-painted bins around town and bringing them to the shelter.

Recycling is good for the environment, creates jobs, helps conserve resources, reduces landfill waste … and recycling with the Humane Society of Central Arizona supports the compassionate care of hundreds of animals. Everyone wins!
